Koh Chang (Small)

Ko Chang is a small island up near the Burmese border and, along with 14 neighbouring islands is part of Mu Koh Pha Yam National Park. There are quite a few bungalow outfits on the island. The ferry pier is at the southern end of Ranong. There are some low key touts at the pier in Ranong as well opon arrival on the Island so you can check out some photos of bungalows. The ride takes just over an hour in a longtail.

I would pick a resort on the west facing Ao Yai as it seemed to be the nicest beach with the greatest selection of places to stay. The beach is not in the world's top ten but it was still nice with lots of sand. The water was, for the most part, clear although people say it is cloudy quite often.

There are no dance clubs or raves. There is a restaurant in the small town which seemed to be the place where everyone would meet for lunch. You will have to rent a bike or walk through the wooded paths. Your resort can organize fishing, dive and snorkelling trips.

There are some decent hiking paths on the Island heading up into the hills where you can get great views of neighbouring Koh Pha Yam.
