Koh Jum

Koh Jum, also called Koh Pu, is a small Island halfway between Krabi and Koh Lanta. While not crowded like Koh Phi Phi or Krabi, there are still enough people that you don't feel too isolated. The west side of the Island is where most of the resorts are located. There are a couple of small fishing villages on the Island.

There are bungalows within the numerous resorts to fit everyone's comfort and monetary levels. All of the resorts I saw were right on the beach. The beach itself was quite nice and the water was spectacular, crystal clear and warm, just the way I like it.

Any of the bungalows can set you up on a snorkelling or fishing trip or you can rent a kayak and go exploring. There are some hiking trails leading into the mountains but they looked like too much work to me. I know at least one of the resorts offer a cooking course and most of them have a small restaurant. Not much nightlife unless you have friends with you and make your own.

To get here take the ferry from Krabi to Koh Lanta. It makes a stop just off the Island where you must transfer into one of the longtails that come out from the resorts. It looks and feels chaotic but don't worry, it works.
